Monkey Business
King of the Jungle baby shower cake
To celebrate the babyshower of a close life long friend of ours I joined forces with my friend Donna to make a babyshower cake. King of the jungle was her theme but she said she wanted a monkey on the cake. She is a huge monkey fan. It seems as though monkeys are all the rage right now! The cake was basically neopolitan bottom layer chocolate cake, chocolate filling, chocolate frosting, middle layer was strawberry cake, strawberry jam filling and strawberry frosting and we topped it off with vanilla cake, filling and frosting.
Happy Boo-day!
Can I have a cake that matches my shoes?
So what do you get the teenager who has everything? A cake that matches his shoes :) Happy Birthday to my little brother. I can't believe how fast the time goes by. I just hope He enjoyed this checkerboard cake! It was vanilla and chocolate checkerboard pattern on the inside with Cream cheese frosting. mmmmmmmmm!

Bottoms Up!
So this past weekend I made a cake for a friends 32nd birthday. Thought he plays video games he said he didn't want anything like that. But that was the only thing I was given to work with. Since he is a booty man I finally settled on a girls bottom with his name tattoo'd on it. :) Cake is Double Chocolate Stout with Vanilla frosting.

Super Mario Bros. Cupies
Super Mario Bros.
My son just celebrated his birthday Super Mario's Brother's style. Here is the set of cupies I made for his party. P.S It is very difficult to find Mario Bro. party supplies.Lots of homemade decor. But it was SUPER fun especially once the mustaches came out!
Cupies are "funfetti" cupcakes filled with Vanilla pudding topped with vanilla frosting and then finished off with sugar paste Mario Bros. Art.

Homemade Lemon Curd
I have lots and lots of left over lemons from this past weekends family reunion so I decided to make some lemony treats.(my personal Favorite!!!) So one of my baking project firsts is Lemon Curd. I made a white cake and will be filling it with lemon curd. I must admit I was alittle intimidated by the idea of making homemade lemon curd because I had no idea what it would entail. But to my surprise it couldnt have been easier!!! Here is the recipe:
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1 cup lemon juice
3 Tbsp. butter
3 eggs
Preparation: Combine sugar and lemon juice in heavy medium saucepan. Stir in butter and eggs and beat well. Cook over medium heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Pour into a one pint container and cover tightly. Refrigerate up to 2 months. Use as a spread on muffins or bread, or as a filling in cakes.
The flavor is amazing and with cans of filling costing over 4.00 this is a nice, easy and less expensive alternative.

Art Show Cake
My First Fondant Cake
My very first Fondant Cake! I created it for a friends birthday. She had a Fall theme birthday. Cake was made October 2008.
It is funny the way I started making cakes. I needed to make cupcakes for a halloween party so I was online looking for ideas when I came across youtube videos of fondant cakes. They were beautiful and I said I CAN DO THAT! I stayed up all night that night looking at cakes. With in a week I had spend a small fortune on cake making supplies and I never looked back :)
